CALL FOR PAPERS CLOSES ON 15 MAY 2018

THEME :  Parks, Leisure and Tourism : Transforming our World

On September 25, 2015, countries adopted a set of goals to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all as part of a new sustainable development agenda. Each goal has specific targets to be achieved over the next 15 years. For the goals to be reached, everyone needs to do their part: governments, the private sector, civil society and non profit organization.  Sustainable leisure services at community level, delivered through the public service can contribute to meeting some of these goals. Researchers are invited to submit papers that address the following goals as they relate to leisure under the following sub themes :

Parks, Leisure and community gardens : End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

Parks, Leisure and Recreation  healthy living for all ages : Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages

Leisure : promoting inclusion and quality leisure education :Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning

Leisure : ensuring gender equality and the empowerment of women : Achieve gender equality and empowerment of  women and girls

Parks, Leisure and Recreation : promoting environmental stewardship : Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts

Parks, Leisure and Recreation : ensuring environmental sustainability for future generations

Leisure :  Sociology and human rights : Promote just, peaceful and inclusive societies

Leisure and Tourism : global partnerships to transform our world : Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

Tourism promotion and management : Responsible tourism and practices for global sustainability

Playgrounds : design, manufacture and installation – key to promote a safe childs play environment

Landscape Architecture and Architecture : creating livable communities for work, life and play spaces

A warm and cordial invitation is extended to all presenters and delegates to explore and reflect on the role of leisure across the lifespan and all sectors to become the fastest growing global trend to the SDG’s.  The congress affords each one an opportunity to share research across the spectrum of  the environment, society and the economy. 

 Guidelines for the Submission of Abstracts : 

The submission of abstracts of between 400-500 words should be submitted online and structured as follows :

a)   Full title of paper as it will appear in the conference programme (not more than 10 words)

b)   Abstract should include, (no headings required)

  1.   background (outline of the context and/or academic literature informing the research),
  2.   approach (indication of the broad theoretical orientation and/or methodological approach), and
  3.   significance (description and application of the original research findings reported in the paper)

c)   Most relevant conference theme as listed above

d)   Type of presentation :

  1.   Individual educational sessions – One submission per presenter / co-author (30 minutes).
  2.   Workshops – maximum number of 3 presenters (2 hours).
  3.   Themed panel discussions – a group of not more than 3 presenters /co-researchers 1 hour 30 minutes).
  4.   Poster presentation

e)  All abstracts will be double blind peer reviewed and returned to the authors by 30 April 2018

f)  Final submission of manuscript by 31 July 2018
